It's Gonna Take More Than A Day...

The experience of recording at Abbey Road was just incredible. Both Tim and I began to sum it all up today, recounting the events of Monday as they took place. There's a lot to tell, and it will probably not be until we return to the states that we can begin to relate it. In the meantime, here are some photos of us having at it in Studio Two, Abbey Road Studios, London, NW8....

What an extraordinary opportunity. The one thing that struck me though, was here you are in this world class studio, and you've got to prop up the amp with chairs? I guess some expenses were spared. Or is that how the fabs did it, and you're just recreating that technique?

Jim;

You know it didn't even occur to me how the amp was on two chairs. Now that I look at the picture I have to laugh. What struck me was the emptiness of this vast room the was void of really any furniture or fixtures. The lighting was gymnasium style bright. The smell was of musty old basement odor. If this room was any other way but that, we'd asked for our money back. It is exactly what we expected. Time stopped in the 60's and remains frozen in the room. Thank God nothing was done to make the place modern. Truly a treasure.

Hey Jim,
I did notice it, and didn't even think twice about it. The amp sounded just great on those chairs. Everything sounded great in that room. One day, this will be known as the "twin chair AC-30 technique". In the meantime, it just meant that an aging musician could reach the controls without his lower back muscles acting up...
